Launch of prenatal workout DVD on June 21st

PRESS RELEASE
15th June 2012

It's no secret that mums want to exercise safely and effectively. But still the status quo is: confusing advice on what you should/shouldn't do, gyms with expensive creches, swanky personal trainers, celebrity fitness videos, inconvenient classes.

Ready Steady Mums founder Katy Tuncer finds that this is leading to a depressing slump on the couch for many mums and mums-to-be.

Surveys show that existing support and exercise services are seen as

  • "confusing"
  • "not based on credible medical research"
  • "too soft"
  • "impractical with baby"
  • "boring"
  • "expensive"

Last year Katy founded an innovative new 'virtual personal trainer' service to help mums around the world to shape up after pregnancy. Now she is turning her attention to mums-to-be, and once again she has built a practical and complete solution that really works.

Katy's comprehensive, safe and fun DVD - Ready Steady Mums, Proper Exercise in Pregnancy - includes Yoga, Pilates and Strength and Tone workouts; plus tracks on meditation, relaxation, motivational tips; and advice on your prenatal body. It provides the answers to the all important questions: How can I look after my body and growing baby safely? How can I get active to be healthy, to help make childbirth easier and reduce the risk of postnatal health problems?

Medical and fitness professionals have developed the content and led the workouts, which all feature real mums-to-be including Katy at 26 weeks pregnant. It is endorsed and recommended by Mark Slack, Head of Urogynaecology at Addenbrooke's Hospital Cambridge.

About Ready Steady Mums

  • The Ready Steady Mums virtual personal trainer service was launched in October 2011, a revolutionary new approach to postnatal exercise followed by mums around the world. RSM is unique, building on credible medical knowledge and listening to what mums really want and need.
  • The core service is all on-line and designed for postnatal women - a virtual personal training service just for mums.
  • There is also a strong community element to RSM. To help mums get together to exercise outside with their babies RSM volunteers lead Local RSM groups around the UK. Ready Steady Mums is a national partner of Sport England's Sport Makers programme, supporting volunteers as part of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic legacy.
